I don't know what the deal is with certain Salescritters here at this
company. I mean, ok, apparently you have to be a little bit dense to be
in Sales, but come on. Salescritters should still know the difference
between a 'cost center' and a 'profit center', right? I mean hell,
that's all they concern themselves with is the bottom line. So why is it
that certain salescritters at $dayjob can't seem to grok the fact that
Technical Support is a
profit center just like our Professional
Services group? We are not the IT group, which
is a cost
center. Technical Support's services are
bought and paid for by
those nifty little support contracts that the salescritters are always,
you know, SELLING.
I don't really care at all if a customer didn't think ahead and buy a
UPS, or they weren't backing up their data, or whatever the excuse of
the day is. They shot themselves in the foot, twice: once for whatever
the excuse is (no UPS), and the second time by not buying a support
contract to begin with. We certainly can't rectify the first, but they
damn well better rectify the second before I commit my teams efforts and
resources to the problem.
GET A DAMN CLUE, SALES.
