Spent the last week in the office for our first 'offsite' all-hands meeting for the Ops staff (we are Support Ops). First, let me say that I actually did enjoy myself. Good food, good people, good fun. I'm glad we went, and I'm glad that we had the opportunities to hang w/ the Support team, the Sys Admins, and others. And we went to some cool places w/ good food and atmosphere. Having said that, I must admit that 'forced camaraderie' really gets under my skin. I mean seriously,
we're all adults here. I think we're all capable of hanging out and socializing on our own. And yes, I'll be the first to admit that it probably would have taken a lot more time for us to get to know all of the people on the teams if things hadn't been scheduled and forced. I just hate feeling like I'm 4 again and being told by a 'grown up' to 'play with everyone'. Ya know what I'm saying?
