The Wii and Me

Yesterday, Tina and I drove around town looking for a Wii, and finally found one (non-bundled). It seems that Micro Center got a shipment of 18 late Thur. Three of them (incl mine) walked out of the store yesterday afternoon, so I don't expect them to have many left for long. I'd been holding out on getting a Wii, waiting for them to rev the hardware, come up w/ the wireless sensor bar, etc.. but Tina mentioned getting one, and the kids were both gone on various trips, so we'd have it ourselves.. so I set about finding one. I'm totally stoked over this device. It comes w/ Wii Sports, which is fairly fun, and we bought Mario Party 8, Super Paper Mario, and Wii Play. I've only played Wii Sports and Mario Party so far, but I'm stoked w/ the possibilities of the system. I'm also a little concerned that developers can fall into the same gimmick niche and not actually /do/ anything w/ the system. Some games are just not gonna translate well into the Wii paradigm unless given serious thought, and I'm afriad w/ the recent trend of 'release on all platforms' we're gonna see a lot of games poorly ported. However, I'm hoping I'm wrong as the potential for this system is huge. Long live Nintendo.
