The Peace War

I /just/ finished reading this book. I was fairly impressed w/ the story, though I do wish it went on a little longer (though there is a sequel, which I'll be reading soon). Around the end of the 20th century, a bunch of scientists at Livermore National Labs invent some technology called 'bobbles'. These are some bubbles that can be generated around a person, vehicle, city as needed. The bobbles trap whatever is inside them and nothing can come in or out. Effectively, they are used to eliminate foes. Unfortunately, there's a twist to them that the inventors don't realize. I won't give it away, but the story of how the bobbles are used by the scientists to overthrow world governments and the subsequent 'rebellion' by the Tinkers is excellent sci-fi reading. If you like sci-fi, I highly recommend this book.
