Mario Kart Wii

We bought this game a while back and have been playing it fairly consistently ever since. We bought the version that comes with the steering wheel and the kids seem to like it, but I don't really hear anyone clamoring for it per se.

This game really just rocks. It's everything the previous Mario Kart titles were and then some. Using the wiimote to steer is totally intuitive and really feels like Nintendo sent people out to look in living room windows while we played the former versions -- the moves you use in the game are things you already did w/ the old controllers (like 'jump' with the controller). My only real gripe with this game is the puny number of new tracks to race on. Don't get me wrong, there are new ones. However, the number of tracks that were 'taken' from previous Mario Kart incantations outnumbers them by a non-trivial percentage. Of course, if you didn't pay Kart on the DS or the other platforms, then they are new to you, so I guess it balances out.

The online play in this game is phenomenal. I've had my normal bevy of bittorrent clients going, downloading an iso, and still raced a 12-person race over my wifi connection without the network being an issue. (If only Super Smash Bros Brawl was this way!)

If you have a Wii, you owe it to yourself to get this game.
